1/2 cabbage head,chopped/sliced finely(4 cups)
1 tbsp moong dal(yellow split gram,soaked for atleast 15 mins)
2 green chillies,chopped
4 curry leaves
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
salt to tatse
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Method:-
1. Wash the cabbage and drain all the water.
2.In a kadhai or thick bottomed vessel heat oil.
3. when oil is hot enough,lower the flame,add curry leaves, mustard seeds.Let them splutter.Then add cumin seeds,green chillies,turmeric powder,moong dal.
Saute for 2 mins.
4.Add chooped cabbage & mix well to combine all on high flame.Donot add salt in advance.
5. Cover with a lid and let it cook on steam for 10-15 mins.When it is done, add salt according to the tatse.
Tips:-
1. Cabbage should be fresh.
2. Instead of green chillies, red chilli powder can be used.In that case,colour of the vegetable will change.
3. This dish can be made by using moong dal(yellow split) or urad dal or chana dal.
